Het karakter van het gebied
Torremolinos was de originele plaats — het vissersdorp dat in de jaren vijftig Spanje's eerste internationale strandresort werd. De stad heeft verschillende vernieuwingen doorgemaakt: de hoogtijdagen van het massatoerisme in de jaren 70-80, een moeilijke periode in de jaren 90, en een lange, weloverwogen regeneratie die de historische visserswijk Carihuela herstelde, de boulevard moderniseerde, en de stad positioneerde als een open, diverse bestemming in het middensegment.
La Carihuela — het oudste deel van de stad, een laagbouwwijk van vissershuisjes aan het westelijke strand — is waar de wederopbloei het meest zichtbaar is. Het oostelijke deel (Bajondillo, El Calvario) behoudt het hoogbouwwijk karakter. Het resulterende aanbod geeft Torremolinos een echte variëteit aan woningtypes en prijscategorieën.
